How does Sunhouse screen its babysitters and nannies? +
Every caregiver on our roster goes through a multi-step screening process: in-depth interviews, reference checks with previous families, and background screenings. We require a minimum of 3+ years of professional childcare experience and verified, up-to-date CPR certification.
We don’t use freelance platforms or unverified listings. Every babysitter and nanny is personally known to our team.
How do I book a babysitter in Vancouver through Sunhouse? +
Booking a babysitter in Vancouver is entirely online and self-serve. No phone calls required. We match you with the most suitable sitter from our trusted roster and send you their profile when the booking is confirmed.
Once matched, you’ll receive a detailed sitter profile showing their experience and skills. You can request the same sitter again for future bookings.

Sunhouse offers a fully online, self-serve booking system, so you can arrange childcare quickly without phone tag. We pair that with personalized matching, transparent pricing, and a monthly babysitting membership for families who book often.
Founded by sisters in Vancouver, Sunhouse was built to support both the families we serve and the caregivers on our roster. See our story for more.
What's the difference between a nanny and a babysitter? +
A babysitter is hired for short-term, on-demand care: a few hours, an evening out, a weekend trip. Babysitters typically don’t drive routines or develop long-term relationships with the family.
A nanny is a long-term caregiver placed with one family on a regular schedule (full-time, part-time, travel, or overnight). Nannies handle routines, meals, school runs, and developmental activities, becoming a consistent figure in the children’s lives. They also carry the mental load that usually falls to parents, often moms: tracking schedules, anticipating needs, and keeping the daily rhythm running so you don’t have to.
Sunhouse offers both babysitting and nanny placements in Vancouver. If you’re not sure which is right for you, get in touch and we’ll help you decide.
Do you serve North Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby? +
Yes. Our primary service area is the City of Vancouver and surrounding Metro Vancouver communities, including Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.
If you’re located in the Tri-Cities or nearby areas and aren’t sure whether we serve your neighbourhood, reach out and we’ll let you know.
Can I book last-minute babysitting? +
Yes. Same-day babysitting bookings are possible depending on sitter availability, and members on a monthly babysitting membership get priority access for last-minute requests. Our on-call roster covers last-minute babysitting across Vancouver neighbourhoods including Downtown, Yaletown, Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant, Commercial Drive, and Point Grey, plus hotel and Airbnb stays throughout Metro Vancouver. Reach out as early as you can and we’ll confirm availability quickly.
How do Sunhouse babysitting memberships work? +
Sunhouse offers monthly babysitting memberships at four tiers starting at $29/mo +GST. Each tier covers a set number of bookings per month (2, 4, 8, or 12+) with the per-booking agency fee included.
Members get priority babysitter access for last-minute requests, predictable monthly billing instead of paying per booking, and the flexibility to cancel anytime. Memberships are ideal for Vancouver families who book regularly or want consistent care for date nights, work, and weekend coverage. See pricing for more.
